McKevlin's first became introduced to Justin Quintal when he was a grom from Hilton Head, SC. Back then, he used to venture north and surf against the Folly Beach locals in our district of the ESA.
Since that time he's moved to Neptune Beach, FL, picked up a sponsorship from Ricky Carroll Surfboards, won three of Joel Tudor's Duct Tape Invitational competitions in a row, and sold hundreds of JQ model surfboards shaped by Mr. Carroll.
Now, Justin has embarked on the next adventure in his surf career - starting his own company - Black Rose Mfg. Justin says he is on a pursuit to create timeless surf equipment, to oscillate and operate between progressive surfing and surfing's past. His end result: Surfboards that provide further insight into the practice of wave riding. To do this, he's chosen Ricky Carroll to be his primary shaper.
