The Staff at McKevlin's wishes to extend its most sincere sympathies to the family of Paul Stohlman, who passed away October 5 after a battle with liver cancer.  Paul was a former employee at McKevlin's and will always be our best friend.  He was best known for his brilliant artistic talent, his sharp wit, his love of the ocean, and his creative sense of humor.  No one can ever take his place.  At only 28 years, truly the good do die young.  We love you Paul.

Lost Surf Jam     4/27/03
On April 15th …lost brought their Surf Jam ’03 to Folly Beach.

First up, over 90 competitors surfed for prize money and the prestige of being the “Best of the Beach.”  Despite a flat early morning the previous day, by contest start the surf was definitely fun.  The …lost crew put on a well-organized, free-entry competition that fired-up the local talent into an expo of some of the best east coast surfing Mike Reola, Dustin Ray, and the rest of the west coast gang has ever seen.  1st place and $200 went to Josh Veit, 2nd and $100 went to Anthony Osment, and $50 and 3rd was awarded to McKevlin’s Team rider Glenn Tanner.  The youngest finalist was Kyle Busey in 5th who gained a free entry to the …lost Pro Jr. during the U.S. Open to be held in Huntington Beach.

If that and free pizza weren’t enough, that evening ...lost treated a sizeable crowd to a premiere of their new video Planet Lost and sponsored the …lost Girl Model Search.  Among the finalists shop staffer, Alana Davis, and McKevlin’s Team rider, Holly Nettles, tied for 3rd place.  Everyone in the place went home with a throbbing head and at least one free t-shirt.

The …lost crew promised that we’d see footage of the contest and the evening’s party in a future …lost video release as well as in an upcoming Fox Network special.  Plus, they promised (threatened) to return and do it all again next year!
