Age:  Born December 25, 1955

Family: Wife Terri, daughter Kristin, son Evan, all-surfers.

Where and when did you start surfing?
Folly Beach, when I was 12.
My first board was a 9'8'' used pop-out I paid thirty-five dollars for.
That was around 1968, and the shortboard revolution was just starting.
My cousin and I cut that board down and reshaped it, then glassed it with boat resin and boat cloth.
Christmas of 1969 I got my first new board, it was a Weber "The Ski" from Dewey's Surf Shop.

Favorite wave: Anywhere in Hawaii.

Travel:
Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Bahamas.

Sponsors:
McKevlin's, M65, DSO, Allison Surfboards, and Natural Art.

Boards:
Right now my quiver consists of three Allisons:  two Allison fish (GT Models) and an Allison longboard.  One fish is a 6'4" double soft wing swallow tail.  This board has a lot of width and volume - especially forward under your chest.  The bottom is flat to vee with pretty soft rails.  This is a great all-around board that's fast and loose.  I ride mine as a twin.  Will [Allison] likes his as a thruster.  The second board is a 6'3"; it's based off the first - only for bigger, better waves.  Will pulled everything in 1" - nose, tail, and width, then added a slight triple concave to the bottom.  We went with a harder double wing.  It still carries a lot of volume throughout.  My 9'0" longboard is Will's performance shape.  It's a great noserider!

Contest highlights:
4 East Coast titles, 3 Grandmasters titles and 1 in Senior Longboard, 1st place U.S. Masters, 2nd Masters East Coast Surfing Championships, East Coast Ironman, 2nd  Senior Men ECSC, 7 time Regional Champion, SC State Champion in Grand Masters and Senior Longboard, and ESA All-Star Team.

Music:
Brought up on Beatles, Stones, Hendrix, Dylan, etc. but I can find something I like in just about any type of music.

Future:
Enjoy surfing with my family, stay fit.

Thanks to:
Mom, My cousin Rob Summersett for getting me started, Donnie Smith, who ran the Wave Machine Surf Shack back in the early 70's and was a great surfer. He put me and Greg Elliot on his team and drove us all over for contests. Pete Dooley and the Natural Art crew and Will Allison.
Terri for understanding my passion for surfing, and Tim McKevlin for keeping an old guy hooked up.
