Welcome to the future! Coil Industries is the brainchild of Eric and Kirk Brasington of Florida. We picked up this technology back in 2007 when Tom Neilson was shaping these boards and having them glassed by the Brasingtons. Now the boards are only available from the brothers. Basically, it's a stringerless EPS blank that is handshaped either by Kirk or by Mike Daniel. Vacuum-bagging is used to laminate the cloth to the blank to squeeze out excess resin. Since the Neilson days, one significant change is that a grid fiber (not carbon, but it looks like carbon) has been added to better control the flex pattern as well as add even more durability. The result is a board that is light, has a very lively flex, and is as durable as a normal board would be if it had been glassed with 28 ounce cloth!
